The Middle Eastern Market: An Overview

Wholesale fashion in the Middle East is of increasing importance to the global fashion industry. Despite significant shifts earlier this year due to turbulent geopolitical environments in the region, the market is experiencing a rapid return to growth.

Exclusive data from JOOR reveals:

  • Increased market share: the region’s percentage of total GMV on JOOR is up from 3.1% in H1 2023 to 4.4% in H1 2026

  • Growing demand: Middle Eastern retailers' overall transaction volume in H1 2026 is up 26% to the prior year

  • Return to growth: following a pullback in March 2026, conflict-driven caution eased and transaction volumes resumed an upward trajectory in April

  • Untapped potential: the region remains a strategic growth market for brands and retailers

Wholesale Fashion Analysis of The Middle East

JOOR has conducted an in-depth analysis of platform transaction data from its exclusive network of more than 14,000 brands and 700,000 curated fashion buyers.

This report focuses specifically on retailers from the Middle East and their orders in H1 2026 compared with H1 in prior years. This includes purchases by multi-brand retailers and brands purchasing inventory for their own DTC stores in the region.

A Positive Rate of Growth

The Middle East is a region of rising importance to the global fashion industry. Transaction volume from Middle Eastern retailers has been steadily growing on JOOR over the last few years, outpacing the platform’s overall performance.  As such, the region has increased its market share from 3.1% of total GMV in H1 2023 to 4.4% in H1 2026.

In the first half of this year, Middle Eastern retailers’ overall GMV growth was 26% YoY, driven by both increased purchases from existing retailers and new stores placing orders on JOOR. When analyzing like-for-like retailers who had orders in both H1 2025 and H1 2026, the growth rate this year was 18% YoY, underscoring a rapidly expanding market of strategic importance.

In H1 2026, over 1,000 retailers in the Middle East processed orders on JOOR, including Aishti, Ounass, Beymen, Rubayiat, Level Shoes, Al Tayer Group, Harvey Nichols Dubai, and Galeries Lafayette Doha, amongst many others.

The Impact of the Iran Conflict

While the overall trend in the region is one of growth, a monthly breakdown of like-for-like retailers’ transactions in H1 2026 reveals a pullback in March following the beginning of the Iran conflict in February.  During this month, transaction volume dropped 5% YoY, a significant shift in the region’s expected performance.

Transaction volume returned to growth in April, May, and June, bouncing back quickly but not yet reaching the pace experienced before the conflict. Middle Eastern retailers on JOOR are showing renewed optimism, increasing wholesale orders as they work to get back to their pre-conflict growth trajectory.

This exclusive transaction data serves as a positive indicator of the region’s future retail performance, given that stores are placing orders for goods to be delivered in the forthcoming months.

The renewed momentum exhibited in Q2 appears to reflect anticipated demand from domestic customers and rising confidence in the recovery of the tourism sector in the region.

How To Tap Into The Region’s Potential

The Middle East has emerged as a strategic growth market for the global fashion industry with untapped potential across the region for brands and retailers.

As demand for luxury fashion in the region continues to increase, Middle Eastern retailers have a huge opportunity for growth.

For the best chance of success and to stand out from competitors, retailers should diversify their product mix. Negotiating in-store exclusives or regional limited-edition products catered specifically to the needs of their clientele offers boutiques and department stores the best chance of capturing market share in a region of rapidly accelerating consumer interest.

International brands looking to expand their wholesale business in the Middle Eastern market can connect with local boutiques using the Find New Retailers filter on JOOR Discover, which provides a directory of vetted retailers in the region and lets them sort potential new connections by location, product categories, and price points offered.
